Hida Nagareha Sugo Kogen Country Walk is a pleasant walking trail in the "Hida Nagahreha Shizen Kyuyoen" Park. It has 6 different hiking trails from 5 to 19km/ 3 to 11.5 miles where visitors can take a nice brisk walk through the rice fields and in virgin beech forests. In autumn there is a dog-walking event.

Amo prefectural park
Amou Kawai-cho Hidashi
In Amo Prefectural Park, visitors can enjoy different walking trails through the Amo Swamp or the virgin beech forest, or they can climb Mt. Mominuka. These trails take about 2-5 hours round- trip. Visitors can also combine trails if they want to have a longer walk. In early spring, "Mizubasyo" and "Ryukinka" bloom beautifully in the swamp, and in autumn, leaves turn into rich shades of red and yellow. From the top t of Mt. Mominuka, there is a spectacular view of the Northern Japanese Alps and Mt. Hakusan.

In the Ikegahara Shitsugen there is a boardwalk where you can enjoy a nice brisk walk. Mizubasho and Ryukinka, known as the "fairy of spring" bloom beautifully in the melting snow. There is interesting landscape in the mountains that looks like an area where fairies might play together.

The Gaoro Trail starts near the Okuhida Onsen Guchi station and passes along a highland river where hikers can enjoy beautiful valley scenery. On a summer evening, one could see lots of fireflies. A "Gaoro" is a Japanese mythical animal also known as a "kappa". The trail is maintained by the volunteers.
