Mr. Ishibashi is an artisan working in wood and lacquer .His works are exhibited and sold at Kamioka Hida Shunkei Kan. "Hikimono (Marumono)" is a technique originating in Kamioka which uses a wheel to carve wood into round shapes. Shunkei is the traditional lacquer style of Hida that started almost 400 years ago. At Kamioka-cho Hida Shunkei Kan, visitors can try the undercoating process. They also offer repairing and repainting services for your own lacquer ware.
